Data Center Exit

Multi-site and enterprise programs: standardize the evidence, not the schedule

Running exits across several sites is not the same project repeated. It is one reporting standard applied to many local realities.

Centralize the evidence, not the schedule

What has to be identical across sites: the inventory format, the data classification, the certificate contents and the reconciliation report. These are what make the program auditable as a whole.

What cannot be identical: access rules, labor requirements, provider availability and schedule. Forcing a single schedule across sites with different building constraints delays the ones that could have moved fast.

Sequencing a program

  1. Start with a site that is representative but not critical — the pilot is where the reporting standard gets fixed.
  2. Freeze the evidence format after the pilot, and apply it unchanged.
  3. Run subsequent sites in parallel where access allows.
  4. Keep one reconciliation ledger for the whole program, not one per site.

One provider or several

A single provider gives consistency and one point of accountability. Several give geographic coverage and negotiating position. The deciding question is usually whether your reporting standard can be imposed on all of them — if it can, several works.

Describe the program

Number of sites, geography and target window. Providers can then indicate genuine coverage rather than claimed coverage.

Data Center Exit is an independent project-intake and matching platform. It does not perform decommissioning, equipment removal, data destruction or transport.
